This listing is for PDF pattern to make the tray, not the actual tray! Anchor for SVG included.

I made this tray a few years ago when I was living on a sailboat in Guatemala, and I've been using it all the time, this is actually my favorite tray. This one was made of 6.5 oz veg tan and lined with a veg sheep skin, then finished with acrylic antique. Very simple project but nevertheless quite satisfying :)

Materials:

For the tray base: 6-7 oz firm veg or chrome.
If using thinner stuff (i.e. 5 oz) leave the seam allowances on the edges a little longer (like 0.5-1mm more) and see if the lining wraps around them tightly. This will also depend on the thickness of the lining.

For the lining: thin and soft - sheep skin, lamb skin, buck skin. No more than 2 oz.
For the anchor: anything thick enough to create 3D-effect like craft foam or felt. You can use thick leather but I bet that would be a pain to cut. Recommended thickness 3 mm. I included SVG file to use with Silhouette or Cricut plotters.

Other than that you’ll need some glue and if you are using veg tan for lining, some antique would be nice.

Size: approx. 6.5" x 6.5" x 1"

Pattern is designed for hand stitching.
Comes with written instructions.

The pattern has stitching holes marked for 5 SPI stitching irons (5 stitches per inch, or approximately 5.2 mm). 5 mm stitching irons made by metric system sometimes fit, sometimes they don’t (depending on manufacturer). If you have 5 mm irons and the spacing seems a tad too large for them you can print the pattern at 96.2% scale. I advise to print one page and try your irons to see how they fit before printing the entire pattern.

Formats: A4 and USLetter + SVG file for the anchor.
