This listing is for PDF pattern to make the bag, not the actual bag!
Simple and stylish sling bag design that reminds of a motorcycle gas tank - hence the name. Can be worn as a sling, chest bag or a backpack, with 5 different strap attachment points (2 on top and 3 on the bottom). Apart from the main compartment it has a pocket on the back.
Size: approx. 14" x 10" x 4"
Materials:
I used 8-9 oz leather for the back panel and straps. The important part is that this leather has to look good at the flesh side after burnishing. Try burnishing the flesh side on a small piece and decide if you like it.
For the front panels use something that is firm enough to hold the shape, it’s important to not use anything that’s too soft on this design. Thickness may vary from 4 oz to 6 oz.
For the inner rear pocket - something thin, 2-3 oz, either soft or firm hand, softer would be better probably, as it would allow some stretching.
Hardware:
1 x 6” zipper
1 x 12” zipper (11.1” is the slit length)
6 x button studs
Pattern is designed for hand stitching.
Comes with written instructions and lots of pictures.
The pattern has stitching holes marked for 5 SPI stitching irons (5 stitches per inch, or approximately 5.2 mm). 5 mm stitching irons made by metric system sometimes fit, sometimes they don’t (depending on manufacturer). If you have 5 mm irons and the spacing seems a tad too large for them you can print the pattern at 96.2% scale. I advise to print one page and try your irons to see how they fit before printing the entire pattern.
Formats: A4 and USLetter.
